The Richmond Anime-Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton Richmond Airport, 4700 South Laburnum Avenue in eastern Henrico. From cosplay to manga, the festival features fandoms of multiple genres. Exhibitors will be selling candy, magazines, toys, video games, artwork, apparel, jewelry and more. There also will be a roster of anime industry professionals and fandom-related celebrities in attendance for fans to meet-and-greet. Admission is $20 with VIP and Platinum tickets available for an additional cost. One child under the age of 11 is admitted free; additional child tickets are $10 each. Pet Memorial Parks will host its 3rd Annual Fall Pet Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen. There will be games, activities, contests, music, vendors, food and more. Just like a real fair, dogs will use midway tickets ($2 each) to participate in the games and activities at the event. The Henrico Bug Bizarre, a community festival celebrating the joy and excitement of entomology, will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Deep Run Recreation Center, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. The event will feature live insects, including hissing cockroaches, tarantulas and a “bug zoo.” There will be insect-related displays, children's activities, and experts will share information on a variety of subjects, including pollinators, garden insects, forest pests and public health. Singer-songwriter AJ Ghent will perform at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road, on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ghent has reached millions through viral videos on TikTok and Instagram, demonstrating the emotional power of sound through hits such as Singing Guitar Vibes, Let the Guitar Sing and Peace of Mind. His work has been recognized in a national campaign for Starbucks and on the official Game of Thrones Spotify playlist. Tickets are $59.11. Click here for details.

Henrico Recreation and Parks will present "Real to Reel: The Crucible" at the Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road, on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Crucible, a play that was later adapted into the 1996 film starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder, was inspired by the Salem witch trials of 1692-1693. A local history expert will separate fact from fiction during this infamous period of American history and briefly examine Virginia’s own history of witchcraft accusations. The movie (PG-13, 124 minutes) will follow the presentation. Admission is free. Click here for details.
