The Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation will host the 5th Annual Dachtoberfest at the Richmond Raceway Complex on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This celebration of wiener dogs will include costume contests, dog races, demonstrations, guest speakers, vendors, raffles, silent auctions and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring pet food donations to support local shelters. All leashed and fully-vaccinated dogs are welcome. Admission is $10; children 10 and under are free. The Junior League of Richmond will present the 21st Annual Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Avenue. The unique event allows children to safely explore all types of vehicles, including construction, landscaping, delivery, emergency, utility, public service and more. Children are allowed to touch the vehicles, get behind the wheel and meet the people who drive them. There also will be other entertainment and activities suitable for all ages. Returning this year is Silent Hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Horns and sirens will be turned off to allow a more sensory-friendly experience. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse will kick off its 25th anniversary season with a concert by Richmond singer-songwriter Susan Greenbaum on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Country/Americana music website Roughstock calls her "a songwriting talent to be reckoned with," comparing her writing and singing to Mary Chapin Carpenter and Bonnie Raitt. Her music receives airplay on Americana, folk and country stations. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Teens 13-18 are admitted at half price, while children 12 and under are free. Twisted Carrot Farm will host a Lakeside Halloween Market on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Farmers' Market, 6110 Lakeside Avenue. This local, collaborative market will feature more than 70 vendors, a pumpkin decorating workshop, trick or treating, music, food trucks and more. Henrico County will host its annual Soulful Sunday at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 North Laburnum Avenue, on Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This family-friendly festival will include African American cultural dances by Ezibu Muntu, gospel music by “The Cousins” of City Church, line dancing, jazz by James “Saxsmo” Gates, a drumming demonstration, vendors, food trucks, a kids zone and more.
