3 months of weekday lane closures begin on Dumbarton Road bridge

Drivers should expect intermittent weekday lane closures for approximately three months on the Dumbarton Road bridge over the CSX railroad between Staples Mill and Byrdhill roads, according to Henrico County officials.

The closures are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. while crews rehabilitate the overpass. They began Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Dumbarton Road has been temporarily reconfigured to carry two lanes of traffic in each direction. Crews will close one lane at a time, and motorists temporarily will travel in lanes previously marked for bicycle use.

County officials are encouraging motorists to use alternate routes during construction hours.

The county lists the related Dumbarton Road safety and mobility work among its active infrastructure projects. Current project information is available at henrico.gov/projects/categories/infrastructure.
