Bernard Greene Memorial 5K planned Oct. 17 to benefit Henrico specialty docket participants
Henrico County's specialty dockets will come together this fall for the annual Bernard Greene Memorial 5K, an event honoring a former Recovery Court administrator while raising money to support participants and alumni of the county’s specialty court programs.
The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. Activities will begin at 9 a.m., with the 5K starting at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s event will bring together Henrico’s Recovery Court, Veterans Treatment Docket and Behavioral Health Docket. Proceeds will benefit current participants and alumni of the programs and help fund sober activities, graduation celebrations, family days and other forms of support. The event also will feature a bounce house, raffles, music and other activities, according to the event flyer.
Registration is $40 per person and includes a t-shirt. Participants who register by Aug. 14 may use the coupon code TRIO to receive $10 off the registration fee.
The race is named in memory of Bernard L. Greene Jr., a former Henrico County Recovery Court administrator who died March 7, 2019. Greene was remembered for his work helping people make positive changes in their lives and for his love of running, cycling and spending time outdoors.
