Henrico accepting applications for 2027 Community Impact Grants
Henrico County nonprofit organizations and nonprofit-sponsored community groups may apply through Nov. 30 for grants of $1,500 to $5,000 to support environmental projects serving county residents.
The 2027 Community Impact Grants program is entering its third year under Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team. Henrico officials said the Board of Supervisors-funded program has helped 16 organizations carry out projects including pollinator and vegetable gardens, Earth Day events, furniture for outdoor environmental classrooms, and accessibility improvements for an outdoor learning lab.
Eligible projects may include neighborhood cleanups, green space and recreation improvements, youth education, active transportation, community gardens and native plantings, heat mitigation and resilience, invasive species management and environmental job training.
Applicants must provide environmental/sustainability services to Henrico residents, show how their work connects with HEART and submit a complete application with a scope of work, budget and timeline. Applicants also must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a community group partnered with one and must be registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
Previous grant recipients may apply with a new proposal or an expansion or offshoot of an earlier funded project. Award recipients are expected to be announced in the spring.
