Youth theater program CharacterWorks will perform Tarzan, a musical based on Disney's 1999 animated film, June 12-14 at the Lora M. Robins Theatre at Steward School, 11600 Gayton Road. An infant boy is raised by gorillas in the jungles of West Africa. A human expedition enters the tribe's territory and encounters Tarzan, who discovers that his human instincts are clashing with his animal upbringing. Tickets are $20. Furbish Thrift’s Big Ass*tronomical Pet Adoption Bonanza will take place Saturday, June 13 at the Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Avenue. Multiple shelters from all over the state - including the Henrico Police Animal Shelter - will bring more than 100 adoptable dogs, puppies, cats and kittens of all sizes, shapes and breeds. All are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to go home that same day. Adoption counselors and trainers will be on hand to answer questions. Blue Bee Cider, 4811 Bethlehem Road, will host the Virginia Berry Cider Jam on Saturday, June 13 from noon to 6 p.m. Celebrate Virginia-made berry-infused ciders from around the state with pours from Sage Bird, Potter's Craft Cider, Ciders from Mars, Buskey Cider, Sly Clyde Ciderworks, Daring Wine and Cider Co. and Cider Lab. Flights of five will be available for purchase. The festival also will feature several food trucks, a photo booth, a paint pour booth, fairy hair garden, and more. Admission is free. SB’s Lakeside Love Shack, 6935 Lakeside Avenue, is partnering with Virginia Pride for a fun-filled fundraiser brunch on Sunday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pride Fest at the Shack will feature a drag show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a local vendor market in the back parking lot, pride-themed food and drink specials all day, and more. Short Pump Town Center, 11800 West Broad Street, will celebrate the launch of Los Trompos, a larger-than-life interactive art installation, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. Spin, play and relax on these colorful woven sculptures while enjoying complimentary crafts, entertainment, food and family fun.
