The Henrico County Police Division and several of its officers recently earned statewide recognition from the Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft Program. The division won the HEAT Award in the police-agency category for departments serving populations of more than 100,000. Henrico Police Chief Eric English accepted the award on the division’s behalf. Lt. Amy Fisher and Officers Garret Christen, Glenn Keough and Hunter Ivester each received Certificates of Merit in the individual category for departments serving populations of more than 100,000. The awards were presented Aug. 31 during the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation Annual Conference in Roanoke.
Kaitlin Leese of Glen Allen has been accepted into the Honors College at the College of Charleston. Leese, a graduate of Deep Run High School, is majoring in business administration.
Nate McElduff of Richmond was named to the Summer 2026 dean's list at Middle Tennessee State University. Students must earn a semester GPA of at least 3.5 while completing at least 12 semester hours to qualify.
Ashly Moya Perez of Henrico is enrolled in the University at Buffalo Honors College for the 2026-27 academic year. The Honors College enrolled 2,258 students this year, including about 680 first-year students.
Eleni Houvarda (magna cum laude) of Glen Allen and Edward Butterworth of Glen Allen graduated from James Madison University during its August commencement exercises.
Five local students were named to the James Madison University President’s List for the Summer 2026 semester: Chloe Chedester of Richmond, who is majoring in biology; Sheira Emmerling of Glen Allen, media arts and design; Holly Jahn of Henrico, intelligence analysis; Sidney Walters of Glen Allen, nursing; and Henry Zincone of Henrico, history. Students named to the President’s List must complete at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or higher.
Four local students were named to JMU’s Dean’s List for the Summer 2026 semester: Snowdon Berry of Glen Allen, who is majoring in kinesiology; Alexander Burreson of Henrico, finance; Katie Garner of Richmond, health sciences; and Abigayle Zaudtke of Glen Allen, health sciences. Dean’s List students must complete at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA between 3.5 and 3.899.
Simone Anderson and Vijaya Bhetwal, both of Glen Allen; London Towles, Joshua Flynn, Chante Hamlin and Ananias Millner, all of Henrico; Tonya Crosby of Sandston; and DeNissa Barrow were named to Southern New Hampshire University's Summer 2026 dean's list. Full-time undergraduate students who earned GPAs of 3.500 to 3.699 qualified for the honor.
Gov. Abigail Spanberger recently appointed several Henrico residents to state boards. Thomas Ransom of Glen Allen, president of Truist's Virginia Region, was appointed to the Treasury Board. Michael Polsky of Henrico, a physician with Pulmonary Associates of Richmond, was appointed to the Advisory Board on Polysomnographic Technology. Carol Cartte of Glen Allen, a senior subject matter expert with Amida Technology Solutions Inc., and Theresa White-Taylor of Glen Allen, a retired military veteran, were appointed to the Board of Nursing. Dr. Nicara Neely of Henrico, director of health and wellness for Walmart Inc., was appointed to the Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Sarah Dowdy of Henrico, a general dentist, was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth.
