Henrico County Police will collect unused and expired medications during National Drug Take Back Day events Saturday, Oct. 24.

The collection, in cooperation with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, is intended to give residents a safe way to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications without placing them in household trash or flushing them.

Residents can drop off medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three sites:

• Henrico Public Safety Building, 7721 E. Parham Road
• Fairfield Area Library, 1401 N. Laburnum Ave.
• Wegmans in Short Pump, 12200 Wegmans Blvd.

Residents should remove personal information from medication containers before bringing them to a collection site.

Information about substance use treatment and recovery services is available from Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services.
