A Henrico County victim services specialist is among 19 public servants statewide to be honored by Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones as part of the 2026 Unsung Heroes Awards.

Ashley Crews, of the Henrico County Victim Witness program (part of the Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney's office), was one of awardees; each was nominated for recognition by their peers.

A ceremony to honor the officials was held recently during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, as a way to spotlight public servants who have shown "exemplary work and dedication on behalf of crime victims," according to Jones' office.

“Awardees represent the heartbeat of public service. Demonstrating grit, perseverance, and compassion for others,” said Jones. “National Crime Victim’s Rights Week is a reminder that we must break down the barriers that keep survivors from finding justice. My office will continue to carry this reminder and work to fight for survivors as strongly as this year’s class of awardees.”
