Henrico households can apply for heating assistance through Nov. 13
Virginia households that meet income requirements may apply through Nov. 13 for help with heating costs through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
The federally funded program, administered in Virginia by the state Department of Social Services as Fuel Assistance, can provide a one-time grant for home heating bills. Crisis assistance also may be available to eligible households that have no heat or are in danger of losing heat.
For the 2026 program year, the income limit is 150% of the federal income guidelines. That means an individual with annual income of up to $23,940 or a family of four with annual income of up to $49,500 may apply. Eligibility and benefit amounts depend on household circumstances and are determined by the Department of Social Services.
Henrico residents may apply online through Virginia's CommonHelp portal, call the VDSS Enterprise Customer Service Center at 1-855-635-4370 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or submit an application to the Henrico County Department of Social Services.
