HenBIKEo cycling festival returns to Glen Allen's Crump Park Sept. 12
Henrico County will celebrate the region’s cycling community with HenBIKEo 2026, a free bike festival Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.
The Henrico Recreation and Parks event will feature cyclocross racing, mountain bike trail rides, demonstration bikes, children’s races, a bike beauty pageant, live music, vendors and food.
Cyclocross racing will begin at 10 a.m. and continue in heats through 3 p.m., with HenBIKEo serving as the kickoff event for the Virginia Cyclocross Series. A new pre-event “crash course” clinic for first-time cyclocross racers will begin at 9 a.m. Race registration is required, though same-day registration will be available.
Cyclocloss races involve CX racers making several loops on a winding course with various terrain and obstacles, with racing tradition suggesting that spectators heckle them and give them “hand ups,” easily grabbable snacks or drinks or money.
Children also will have a number of opportunities to ride and race. WeeWheel Richmond will provide free bikes and helmet rentals, with races scheduled for balance-bike riders and children in age groups 4-5, 6-9 and 10-14. The kids' course will open at 11 a.m., following a 10:30 a.m. trail ride. An afternoon trail ride will begin at 2 p.m., and a special-needs trail ride will be offered in partnership with Beyond Boundaries.
The festival portion of HenBIKEo will include performances by Ultrasuede and Table Gravy, along with an expo featuring local cycling businesses, organizations and nonprofits. Blue Ridge Cyclery will offer bikes for visitors to test ride.
A “Bike Beauty Pageant” will showcase bikes made by local fabricators, with attendees voting for their favorite. Entries for the competition will be accepted through Wednesday, Sept. 9. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from several vendors.
The county also will provide a staffed bike valet. Cyclists who use the valet can show their ticket at the Henrico Recreation and Parks tent to receive a HenBIKEo shirt.
Earlier in the day, the Richmond Area Bicycling Association will host a special edition of its Ashland Breakfast Club ride beginning at 9 a.m. at RF&P Park in Ashland. Several pace groups will be offered, ranging from a 20-mile ride for newer cyclists to a 37-mile route for faster riders. The ride is organized separately and is not sanctioned or officially endorsed by Henrico County.
HenBIKEo is free to attend. For additional information, visit the HenBIKEo 2026 event page or contact Henrico Recreation and Parks at (804) 501-7275.
