Henrico Police investigating fatal West Broad Street crash

A 69-year-old man has died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash last week in Henrico's West End, according to Henrico Police.

Officers responded at about 4:50 a.m. Sept. 11 to the 7800 block of West Broad Street. Police said the driver of a Lexus sedan reported that a Toyota pickup truck had rear-ended his vehicle while the Lexus was attempting to turn right into a parking lot.

The Toyota's driver, Paul Roger Neal of Columbia, Virginia, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Crash investigators learned Sept. 14 that Neal had died.

Police said Neal had been issued a summons for following too closely and that preliminary findings suggest his failure to wear a seat belt may have contributed to the severity of his injuries. The investigation remains active.
