Police identify woman killed in Williamsburg Road pedestrian crash
Henrico Police have identified a 61-year-old woman who died after being struck by two vehicles Thursday night while attempting to cross Williamsburg Road near South Airport Drive.
Renee Brown, of Sumter, South Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to the intersection at about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Brown was crossing the eastbound lanes of Williamsburg Road when one vehicle struck her. A second vehicle then struck her after she fell in the roadway, according to police. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Police said they believe Brown’s dark-colored clothing and the lack of roadway lighting contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
