In honor of the United States' 250th birthday this year, Henrico County is hosting a two-day Independence Day celebration. The first event will take place Friday, July 3 at Dorey Park from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Musical acts 5Starr and Plunky & the Oneness will perform and fireworks will end the evening. The second event will take place Saturday, July 4 at Crump Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a kids zone, history area and laser-light show finale with the Richmond Symphony. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will offer free admission for all guests on Saturday, July 4. Lewis Ginter features more than 50 acres of gardens and is newly-expanded. The Klaus Family Tree House and Waterway splash pad will both be open in the Children's Garden. Visitors can also explore the newest outdoor art exhibition, Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dreamworld, with installations located throughout the grounds. Blue Bee Cider, 4811 Bethlehem Road, will host "Red, White and Blue Bee" on Saturday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Happy Hour will be in effect all day with $2 off beer, $12 cider flights, $6 wine glasses, $7 small bites, and a $35 date night special (bottle of cider/wine, pizza and small bite). Hot dogs will be on the grill from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and rocket pop slushies (alcoholic) will be available while supplies last. Matt Lewis and his 11-piece orchestra will bring their Elvis Lives: A Star-Spangled Tribute show to The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road, on Sunday, July 5 at 7 p.m. Lewis, named "Best Elvis in Las Vegas" by USA TODAY, will perform some of Elvis Presley's top hits including American Trilogy. Tickets are $69.41 and can be purchased here.
Herbetarian will host Sunday's Best Farmer's Market inside Regency Mall on July 5 from noon to 6 p.m. This weekly, indoor market brings together local farmers, food vendors, bakers, artisans, crafters and small businesses from across the Richmond area. Items for sale include fresh produce, homemade baked goods, specialty foods, natural products, handcrafted gifts and more. Admission is free. Click here for details.
