River City Community Players will present "For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday" June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and June 7 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, 11421 Gayton Road in the West End. "For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday" is a loving look at a family’s view of death, life and the allure of never growing up. Five siblings are in their father's hospital room during his final moments. His death sparks a conversational wake that includes everything from arguments over politics to when each sibling realized that they grew up. Tickets to the first two shows (June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and June 7 at 2:30 p.m.) are pay-what-you-can. To make a reservation for these shows, call (804) 554-0595. The remaining shows are $15 per ticket. The Slave Dwelling Project will host two activities at Meadow Farm June 6-7. "Campfire Conversation" will take place Friday, June 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Joseph McGill of the Slave Dwelling Project will facilitate open dialogue about how we talk about the past, the enslaved, enslavers, and reconciling how history has been taught and the truth under the veneer. "Living History" will take place Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nicole Moore and Joseph McGill of the Slave Dwelling Project will be doing cooking demonstrations in Meadow Farm’s outdoor kitchen. Henrico County Master Gardeners will hold their annual Pollinator Festival and Plant Sale on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deep Run Recreation Center. Master Gardeners will be selling plants from their own gardens at bargain prices. There also will be pre-made floral arrangements for sale, as well as a "Garden Treasures" table with gently-used gardening items. Henrico Master Gardeners will be staffing a Plant Clinic to answer gardening questions. In addition to the sale, there will be educational displays/booths, a vermiculture demonstration, composting information, hands-on children's activities, a photo booth, tool and knife sharpening, musical entertainment, and a food truck. The Varina Ruritan Club and Henrico Recreation and Parks will "Celebrate Varina" during the Dorey Park Farmers Market's opening day on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Items for sale at the market include locally-grown produce, meats, fresh flowers, honey, eggs, baked goods, handcrafted items, and more. In addition to the market, there will be live music, a kid's zone and community groups. The Dorey Park Farmers Market will be open every Saturday, June through October, from 9 a.m. to noon at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. For details, visit doreyparkfarmersmarket.org.

Explore Vietnamese culture at a special author visit featuring a pair of award-winning picture book stars at Tuckahoe Library on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hanh Bui is the author of The Yellow Áo Dài and Ánh's New Word, two colorful picture books that look at the refugee experience through the eyes of a child. Chiêu Anh Urban is the author and illustrator of many picture books, including her Illusions in Art series. All ages are welcome to attend and there will be crafts and activities for children. Books will be available for purchase and signing. This program, offered as part of the library's commemoration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Admission is free.
