Vivos Academy, a private special education high school serving students ages 14 to 22, has opened at 9700 Gayton Road in western Henrico County for the 2026-27 school year.

The school says it works with students with autism, emotional disabilities and other neurodivergent needs during the high school and transition years. Its program combines individualized academic instruction with practice in independent living and employment-related skills.

Students use an on-site mock studio apartment to practice cooking, cleaning and laundry, according to the school. They also may hold school jobs, use money they earn at a student-run store, care for a school animal and participate in community and vocational activities.

Vivos says each student's academic program is aligned with Virginia standards and the goals in the student's individualized education program. The school's website describes its instructional approach as including trauma-assumed care and applied behavior analysis.

The school is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education. Vivos says students may be placed through their local school division and IEP team, or families may contact the school directly.
