Virginia joins 21 states in opposing USPS gun mailing proposal

Attorneys general warn rule could bypass background checks and weaken enforcement of state firearm laws

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones joined a coalition of states opposing a proposed U.S. Postal Service rule that would allow certain firearms to be shipped through the mail, warning it could bypass background checks and weaken enforcement of state gun laws.
