Democrat Shannon Taylor easily won 46 of the 48 Henrico County precincts in the First Congressional District in her attempt to unseat incumbent Republican Rob Wittman.

Democrat Shannon Taylor dominated the Henrico County portion of Virginia's First Congressional District in Tuesday's election, winning 46 of the 48 precincts and defeating Republican incumbent Rob Wittman by more than 22,500 votes in the county.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., the race was trending in Taylor's favor but still too close to call; she held a 51% to 49% lead over Wittman with 93% of precincts reporting.

Taylor received 55,397 votes in Henrico, compared with 32,891 for Wittman — a margin of 22,506 votes and approximately 25.5 percentage points among votes cast for the two candidates. Her victory was widespread, extending across western and northern Henrico, including the Innsbrook, Short Pump and Glen Allen areas.

Taylor's most lopsided percentage victories came in the Greenwood and Randolph precincts. She received 542 votes to Wittman's 57 in Greenwood, capturing more than 90% of the two-candidate vote. In Randolph, Taylor won 204 votes to Wittman's 35, or about 85% of the two-candidate vote. She also exceeded 75% in Tucker, Longdale and Yellow Tavern.

Yellow Tavern produced Taylor's largest numerical advantage of any Henrico precinct, with 2,180 votes to Wittman's 700 — a margin of 1,480 votes. Tucker followed with a 1,321-vote margin, while Longdale gave Taylor a 1,197-vote advantage. Together, those three precincts accounted for 3,998 votes of her countywide margin.

Taylor also posted substantial victories in the western Henrico precincts of Innsbrook, Short Pump, Nuckols Farm, Shady Grove and Three Chopt. She won Innsbrook by 763 votes, receiving 1,190 to Wittman's 427, and carried Short Pump by 531 votes, 1,192 to 661. In Nuckols Farm, the margin was 439 votes, while Shady Grove and Three Chopt favored Taylor by 488 and 310 votes, respectively.

Even in several precincts where the race was comparatively competitive, Taylor prevailed. She won Derbyshire by just 78 votes, 818 to 740 — a margin of 5.006 percentage points, barely exceeding the 5-point threshold. She also carried Hunton by 49 votes, Lakewood by 160, Glen Allen by 392 and Maybeury by 222. All 46 of Taylor's precinct victories exceeded 5 percentage points.

Taylor also won 17 of the 19 precincts in the Tuckahoe magisterial district, despite both of Wittman's precinct victories occurring there.

Wittman carried just two Henrico precincts: Mooreland and Tuckahoe, both in the Tuckahoe magisterial district. In Mooreland, Wittman received 709 votes to Taylor's 547, a margin of nearly 13 percentage points. The Tuckahoe precinct was closer, with Wittman receiving 1,484 votes to Taylor's 1,361 — a margin of just 123 votes, or 4.3 percentage points. Those were the only two precincts in the county where Wittman finished ahead.
