Restaurant Watch: Aug. 12-19, 2026

Feed More, 8020 Villa Park Drive - During a routine inspection on Aug. 12, inspectors observed dried food debris on a meat slicer blade and surfaces; small flies in the dish area and around the mop sink; several stained cutting boards on a dish rack; dusty racks in dry storage, soiled racks in the main walk-in cooler and metal pans on cleaned-dish racks with stickers and sticker residue remaining on their outer surfaces; a leak at the Spray Master; two Y-connector valves at the mop sink placing water under continuous pressure without an appropriate backflow prevention device; and dried food spills on floors around ovens on the cookline.
Billy Pie, 403-A North Ridge Road - During a routine inspection on Aug. 13, inspectors observed the dish machine's rinse-cycle display reach 196 degrees, even though the person in charge reported that a service company had taken apart the machine and replaced the thermostat.
Devil's Lettuce, 9050 West Broad Street - During a routine inspection on Aug. 13, inspectors reported no violations.
La Barrita, 8711 Shrader Road - During a routine inspection on Aug. 13, inspectors found that the person in charge did not have a Certified Food Protection Manager certification; the person in charge did not have an employee health policy for food staff; the person in charge did not have written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea incidents; the bar hand sink was being used for warewashing; and ceiling tiles and lights were water-damaged or broken because of a roof leak.
The Queen Burguers, 7103 Staples Mill Road - During a routine inspection on Aug. 13, inspectors found that the person in charge had form 1B policies that had not been signed; no paper towels were available at a hand sink; a plant was inside a handwashing sink; chlorine sanitizer at the three-compartment sink measured 0 ppm; and opened containers of mayonnaise labeled for refrigeration after opening were stored beneath a counter at 78 degrees.
Celeste Farms, 7001 Osborne Turnpike - During a routine inspection on Aug. 14, inspectors observed a spoon and container inside a hand sink; black residue buildup inside the ice maker; biological samples of well water ordered by the Office of Drinking Water were taken from the incorrect location and both were positive for coliform (person in charge will take new samples today); and a heavily rusted outdoor grill, including some of its cooking grates.
Torque Club at RIR, 600 East Laburnum Avenue - During a routine inspection on Aug. 14, inspectors observed food debris more than 24 hours old in a tilt skillet; deep fryers in disrepair; dirty walk-in cooler door gaskets; a direct plumbing connection beneath the first floor kitchen's three-compartment sink; dust buildup on kitchen walls; and greasy hood filters.
Toast New American Gastropub, 7007 Three Chopt Road - During a routine inspection on Aug. 17, inspectors observed unpasteurized whole shell eggs stored above Brussels sprouts in the walk-in cooler; brown mildew on the ice guard of the ice machine; chicken breast taken off the grill for plating at 140 degrees; mashed potatoes at 107 degrees, black beans at 98 degrees and cheese sauce at 92 degrees in a steam well that had not been turned on; sliced ham at 43 degrees and cooked noodles at 44 degrees, as well as sliced tomatoes, diced tomatoes and cherry-tomato salad measuring as high as 45, 43 and 44 degrees, respectively, with all products filled above the salad make table's fill line; several made-to-order egg menu items without asterisks linking them to the consumer advisory, shrimp and crab items carrying advisory asterisks even though the person in charge said they were fully cooked, and an advisory asterisk on ground beef items on the children's menu; multiple spray bottles of sanitizer without identifying labels; partially cooked fries in large, tightly covered and stacked bins and sliced turkey and ham tightly covered while cooling in the walk-in cooler; tongs stored in standing water at 82 degrees, single-service containers used as scoops in panko and rice bins, and an ice scoop handle contacting ice at the bar; scratched and stained cutting boards; rusted walk-in cooler fan guards, fryer baskets with bent wires and a burned out light in the vent hood; grime behind soda nozzles, grease on the casters of a speed rack and bottom shelf of a dish storage rack, black mildew on reach-in cooler gaskets, and grease and dust on the backs of order monitors and associated cords and rods; a leak at the P-trap of a hand sink next to the dish machine; low grout throughout the kitchen, extensive floor damage in front of the fryers, and a damaged ceiling in an outdoor storage room containing boxes of cling film and foil sheets; and dirty flooring beneath the dish machine and reach-in freezer, food splatter on the ceiling above the cookline and a dusty wall in the mop sink room.
Elephant Thai Restaurant, 11676 West Broad Street - During a routine inspection on Aug. 18, inspectors found no person in charge at the establishment while the owner was on vacation and the manager not expected until later in the day; a wire brush stored in the prep line hand sink, interfering with proper handwashing; cooked noodles in the walk-in cooler without preparation dates, though an employee said they had been prepared the previous day; a can of Raid labeled for residential use stored near the bar; a handful of immature cockroaches throughout the kitchen cookline, a few medium-sized cockroaches beneath cooking equipment and too many dead cockroaches to count throughout the dry storage area; knives stored in crevices of prep units where cockroaches were present, behind a paper towel dispenser and in the crevice of a box on a back prep table, as well as three rice-scooping utensils stored in standing water; torn gaskets on reach-in freezer doors at both ends of the prep line, a reach-in freezer in the dining room and the lowboy refrigeration unit behind the sushi bar, as well as four fryer baskets with broken metal pieces; absorbent and dirty cardboard lining wire racks in the dry storage area; and old food debris on a wire rack in the walk-in cooler.
Market Cafe, 10950 Nuckols Road - During a follow-up inspection on Aug. 18, inspectors observed that the walk-in freezer was not maintaining temperature, with the person in charge reporting that it had stopped working the previous week and that all thawed food had been discarded.
MOD Pizza, 5466 Wyndham Forest Drive - During a risk factor inspection on Aug. 18, inspectors found no certified food protection manager working at the establishment; the person in charge could not provide records showing employee health training regarding foodborne-illness symptoms and reporting responsibilities; and mozzarella out on the counter measured 47 degrees.
Scott's Smokehouse, 3420 Lauderdale Drive - During a routine inspection on Aug. 18, inspectors observed chlorine sanitizer being dispensed from the dish machine at 0 ppm; queso in a steam well at 130 degrees; package lining still attached to the bottom of a back prep table, preventing the surface from being smooth and easily cleanable; peeling and rusty wire racks in a three-door reach-in refrigeration unit; dusty vents in the three-door reach-in refrigeration unit; and a mop stored head-down next to the utility sink and unable to air dry properly.
Brunches at Wellesley, 3416 Lauderdale Drive - During a follow-up inspection on Aug. 19, inspectors found that an employee health policy was again unavailable; another unlidded drinking cup was stored on a shelf above the kitchen prep unit; the hand sink across from the warewashing area was being used to prepare food; the kitchen dish machine was dispensing sanitizer at 0 ppm; and a spray bottle containing a reddish chemical near the front kitchen door was again unlabeled.
Panda Express, 1782 North Parham Road - During a routine inspection on Aug. 19, inspectors observed an employee handling a cell phone and computer and entering and exiting the kitchen multiple times before beginning to prepare a to-go meal without first washing hands; no paper towels at the hand sink next to the three-compartment sink; quaternary ammonium sanitizer at the three-compartment sink at 100 ppm with water above 100 degrees; two fryer baskets with bent wires at the corners; dark-colored grime on the gaskets of a lowboy cooler and walk-in cooler; a slow leak at the prep sink faucet; open sliding doors on outdoor dumpsters and a bag of trash partially hanging out of a dumpster; a wet mop sitting in the mop sink basin; and standing water in front of the walk-in freezer that the person in charge said accumulated overnight.
Rise Biscuits & Donuts, 11561 West Broad Street - During a follow-up inspection on Aug. 19, inspectors observed torn gasket liners remaining on the kitchen prep unit doors; wire racks in the dry storage area are still dirty; and a Y-valve still attached to the mop sink faucet without an appropriate backflow prevention device.
