Carini Italian Restaurant, 3718 Williamsburg Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: raw salmon stored over cooked pasta; cooked chicken stored with raw steak; raw eggs stored over ready-to-eat desserts; buildup found on slicer; temperatures of several foods in refrigeration units are elevated (lettuce, cheese, chicken salad, cream, diced tomatoes, ham and lasagna); there are no date marks on chicken, lasagna or pasta; salmon is thawing while still in reduced oxygen packaging; single-service items along the cookline are not stored inverted; there are torn and missing gaskets on prep units along cookline; a light is out under the hood.

Chen’s Chinese Restaurant, 11361 Nuckols Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: employee is drinking from a soda can in the food prep area; plastic bag of food and other items are stored in hand sink by back door; neither hand sink has paper towels; temperature of hot and sour soup is too low because it is not being stored in hot well; burn gel and box of medicine stored on shelf above make tables on cookline; observed dead roaches between wood board and plastic covering near dish machine; observed what appears to be mouse droppings on dry storage shelf across from three-compartment sink; boxes of broccoli are stored in mop sink basin (they were recently delivered); cutting boards at cookline are heavily scratched and discolored; a light is out in the hood; tiles are in poor repair around grease interceptor; observed buildup of grease and food debris on cookline floor; there is dust on ceiling around vents; heavy grease buildup found on hood vents (grease is dripping).
On the Grill RVA, 10800 Brookley Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: didn’t observe employee health policy or written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea; raw beef burgers stored next to cooked chicken; raw shell eggs stored above sauces; there are no date marks on used breading, opened hot dogs and cooked plantains; there are multiple unlabeled foods and liquids on cookline and in dry storage (white powdery substances, water, oil); two cutting boards are heavily scratched and stained; observed food debris buildup on gaskets of all cooling units; the back fan guards of central cooling unit and ceiling vents are dusty; there is grime on wire racks above dishes; there are exposed and broken ceiling tiles throughout kitchen.

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, 1090 Virginia Center Parkway – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: plastic bin found in hand sink at outdoor bar; lidded containers of raw steak and raw slider burgers are stored next to portioned sauces; there is 0 ppm sanitizer in outside chlorine dish machine; sanitizer is stored on top of sliding top door ice machine and next to clean shot glasses; meat walk-in cooler ceiling, racks in dry storage and grates on drink machines are rusty; there is a torn gasket on walk-in cooler; mini fridge and drink fridge in/near takeout area are broken and should be removed from the facility because they are not in use; there is a buildup of grime inside outdoor bar dish machine; observed buildup of food debris and grime on top and bottom metal shelves; there is dried food debris on wire rack shelving in kitchen and dry storage; grime found on walk-in cooler gaskets; hose hooked up to spray nozzle under continuous pressure at mop sink doesn’t have the proper dual check valve installed; there is a leak below hand sink in ware washing area; cold faucet handle is missing at mop sink; floor drains are slow; AVB backflow preventer at mop sink is missing its cap; observed buildup of food debris on floors under stationary equipment throughout kitchen, walk-in freezer, under racks in dry storage, under the indoors and outdoors bars, around the drink machine across from food kitchen window, and in all floor drains throughout kitchen and the two bars.
Cantonese Kitchen, 9047 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: front hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; hand sink at three-compartment sink is blocked by large pan and lids, is covered in food debris, and slow to drain; menu says flounder is being served but swai is in the kitchen; pink buildup found in ice machine; temperature of raw ducks on hooks next to three-compartment sink is elevated; time isn’t marked on roasted poultry; several boxes of raw meats are thawing on counter and floor; multiple boxes of food are stored directly on kitchen and walk-in cooler floors; rice scoop is stored in room temperature water; heavily soiled cardboard is lining cart; walk-in cooler racks are rusty; green beans are stored in non-food grade grocery store paper bags; thick white cutting board is scratched and stained brown; floor fan is dusty; prep cooler gaskets in three-door lowboy cooler are dirty.

Paris Baguette, 3524 Pump Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: facility couldn’t provide written procedures for cleaning up vomit and diarrhea; hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; temperature of Caesar chicken in back prep unit is elevated; two sanitizer spray bottles are unlabeled; bulk bin storing flour in dry storage is unlabeled; stack of bread boxes are stored directly on walk-in freezer floor; y-valve attached to mop sink faucet doesn’t have the proper backflow prevention device installed.
The Daily Kitchen & Bar, 12201 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink in kitchen near office doesn’t have hand soap; raw tuna stored next to ready-to-eat foods in top of make table; quat sanitizer at three-compartment sink doesn’t appear to be moving through the dispensing tubes (concentration is too low); temperatures of tabouleh, blue cheese, chicken, roasted tomatoes and milk in several refrigerated units are elevated; there are no date marks on pickled onions and red pepper bisque in walk-in cooler; two chemical spray bottles are unlabeled; tuna and snapper in make table and walk-in were thawed while still in reduced oxygen packaging; utensils are stored in room temperature water at cookline; facility doesn’t have an irreversible temperature device for high temperature dish machine monitoring.
KFC, 9000 West Broad Street – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink next to soda machine is being used as a dump sink; microwave interior is dirty; sauces and liners are stored in cardboard boxes soaked in grease; employees are packaging food while wearing artificial nails and non-plain rings; employee with long facial hair isn’t wearing a beard guard; gasket is torn on two-door reach-in freezer; clean dish racks and main walk-in cooler racks are chipped; y-connector attached to mop sink doesn’t have the proper backflow prevention device installed; observed grease and flour buildup on pipe behind cookline units; there is dust buildup on cords above prep line; main walk-in cooler door and chicken walk-in cooler doorway are torn; paint is peeling at ceiling fan above three-compartment sink; floor tiles are cracked and grout is low at three-compartment sink area.
Little Caesars, 9514 Woodman Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hot water at three hand sinks doesn’t reach the required temperature; temperature of portioned marinara on counter is elevated; there are no date marks on prepped chicken wings in make table; two white powdered foods in a shaker and in a bulk bin are unlabeled; top lid of make table is broken, stored on the floor, not in use and covered with manufacturer's wrapping; observed a buildup of food debris and grime on a food cart and wire racks and food racks throughout facility; floor fans are dusty; walk-in cooler gasket is dirty; there is a direct plumbing connection at three-compartment sink; there are food debris spills and grime on walls and at the perimeter throughout facility; observed food splashes and dust on ceiling tiles and vents.
Firehouse Subs—White Oak, 4501 South Laburnum Avenue – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: a big cardboard box is blocking the back hand sink; there is 0 ppm of sanitizer in three-compartment sink; temperatures of lettuce and tomatoes in make table are elevated; observed large amount of boric acid tracking powder under equipment and on bottom of prep table near open bread placed by owner (tracking powders not allowed in the food establishment); observed multiple live roaches crawling on floor of service area; observed a lot of small flies around mop area; food and debris buildup found on inside of units, gaskets and racks; observed low grouting and cracked floor tiles; floors and walls are in need of cleaning throughout; mops are not hung or inverted to air dry.

Halal Maestro, 5401 Glenside Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: hand sink doesn’t have paper towels; bottles of oil and water are unlabeled; one bulb is out at the hood.
Vallarta Mexican Grill Mariscos Bar, 5431 Glenside Drive – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: an employee picked up food off the ground, threw it away and then handled new food without changing gloves; temperatures of four pans of cooked black beans and one pan of cooked beef are elevated because of improper cooling methods (cooked yesterday and put in deep, covered pans to cool); temperature of seafood soup broth is too low; fish was thawed while still in reduced oxygen packaging; employee with artificial nails is preparing drinks; knives used at the bar are stored in between equipment; to-go containers are not stored inverted; some cooler gaskets are in disrepair; dried food debris found on prep shelves.

Starbucks Coffee Co., 6201 River Road – The following violations were reported during a routine inspection: brown dried and wet liquid is all over the bottom and side of hand sink indicating it was used as a dump sink; temperature of whipped cream canister by drive-thru is elevated; oat milk on time control wasn’t discarded on time; boxes and bags of coffee are stored directly on floor in dry storage closet; lids of both outdoor dumpster receptacles were left open; one bin is overflowing with cardboard.
