Obituary - Louise Burroughs McFadden
Louise Burroughs McFadden, affectionately known as “Weeza,” departed this life on May 11, 2026, in Glen Allen, Virginia, at the age of 90. She was born on March 20, 1936, in Nesmith, South Carolina, the only child to Allie McCutchen Burroughs and Samuel Burroughs.
Louise was raised in Nesmith, South Carolina, and graduated from Brown High School in Williamsburg County. She later made Richmond, Virginia, her home, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She worked in the service industry at the Commonwealth Club, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic, and she later retired from there. A devoted member of Triumphant Baptist Church for over 50 years, she served faithfully in the Pulpit Aide Ministry and the Senior Ministry. Louise loved the Lord and carried her faith with quiet strength and steady grace throughout her life.
She was known as the heartbeat and backbone of her family. Feisty, sassy, loving, warm, kind, giving, and family-oriented, Louise had a strong work ethic and a way of making others feel that anything was possible. She believed in seeing the best in people and made a lasting impact on those around her through her encouragement, care, and unwavering love.
Louise found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved gardening, cooking, especially for her family, traveling throughout the United States and internationally, and watching mystery television shows. Above all, she treasured time with her loved ones and took pride in nurturing those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie McCutchen Burroughs and Samuel Burroughs; one son, Kenneth Anthony McFadden, Sr.; Lula Nesmith, who was raised as her sister; and Ephis Nesmith, who, after the death of his parents, was raised with her as a brother.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Helen McFadden, James Allen McFadden, Cheryl Edwards (John), and Samuel McFadden (Fredia); nine grandchildren, Jakita Miller, Kenneth McFadden, Jr., Kendall McFadden, Sr. (Kashonda), Samuel McFadden, Jr., Kimberly McFadden, Asia McFadden, Ashley Edwards, Amari McFadden, and Amani McFadden; four great-grandchildren, Kendall McFadden, Jr., Khalil McFadden, Kayden Crawley, and Amora Coleman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, David Kinder and Everlene Carter, other relatives and friends, two special family friends, Denita Lindsey and Clarise Witcher.
Louise’s life was a testimony of love, resilience, faith, and devotion to family. Her favorite scripture, Psalm 23, reflected the peace and trust that guided her life: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives she touched, the family she loved, and the memories that will be cherished forever.
