Obituary - Eleanor Marie Proffitt
Eleanor Marie Proffitt, 87, of Highland Springs, Virginia, passed away on October 22, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1939 to the late Lamar and Edna Jenkins. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Willie Proffitt.
Eleanor retired from General Finance, closing a chapter of steady work and responsibility that reflected the quiet strength with which she approached life. She found joy in the simple things—family dinners, time spent together, and the everyday moments that become lasting memories. Her home was a place of welcome; her door was always open, and she was a friend to all. Sharing a meal with friends and family was one of the ways Eleanor most naturally showed care, making others feel at ease and included.
She also enjoyed playing cards, especially weekly Poker nights, and she liked going out to shop estate sales. Eleanor took pleasure in gardening, and she cherished apple picking and canning with the family—traditions rooted in togetherness and the kind of practical love that nourishes a household as surely as any meal.
Left to cherish Eleanor's memory are her sons, Henry "Craig" Proffitt and Lamar "Kent" Proffitt (Melissa); grandchildren, Brittney Proffitt and Damien Proffitt; six granddogs; brother, Roy Jenkins (Charlotte) of Sperryville, VA; nephew, Chucky Jenkins; niece, Ronda Dee Jenkins (Kevin); and numerous extended family and friends.
