Obituary - Crystal Alvis Clark
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Crystal Alvis Clark, 65, of Sandston, Virginia, on June 13, 2026.
Born Crystal Mae Alvis on February 8, 1961, in Richmond, Virginia, Crystal lived a life defined by faith, service, generosity, and love. She was the beloved wife of David Leslie Clark, devoted mother of Britni Clark Bowles (Phillip Lamar Bowles), and grandmother to Jordan and Katara - all who brought immense joy to her life.
Crystal is also survived by her loving mother, Maria "Cookie" Cowardin Alvis; her sister, Glinda Rae Alvis; her brother, Arthur Bruce Alvis, Jr.; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members whom she treasured deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Bruce Alvis, Sr.
For 31 years, Crystal faithfully served Dominion Energy before retiring. While she was proud of her professional career, those who knew her best remember her for the way she cared for others. Crystal had a remarkable gift for helping people stay organized and bringing order to life's challenges. Whether she was assisting friends and family with bookkeeping, taxes, schedules, or simply offering a helping hand, she was always ready to serve.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Crystal was deeply involved in her church and dedicated countless hours to supporting its ministry and operations. As Treasurer and in many other roles throughout the years, she faithfully served her church family, earning the love, respect, and gratitude of all who knew her. Her church family was truly an extension of her own.
Crystal's cheerful spirit was impossible to miss. She had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that made everyone feel welcome. She was endlessly supportive, always encouraging others, celebrating their accomplishments, and helping them believe in themselves. No one felt more supported than her daughter, Britni, whom Crystal loved cheering on through every stage of life.
In retirement, Crystal embraced new adventures, especially in the kitchen, where she enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing meals with those she loved. She also enjoyed discovering new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest happiness came from being present for the people she loved and making their lives a little brighter.
Crystal leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, encouragement, and selfless service. Her impact can be seen in the countless lives she touched through her generosity, her unwavering support, and her joyful spirit. Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort in the many memories she created and the love she shared so freely.
A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Washington Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Crystal's life and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
The family asks those who remember Crystal do so with the same warmth, kindness, and encouragement that she shared with everyone she met.
