Soung Bin Kwon of Henrico graduated cum laude in May from Minnesota State University. Kwon earned a BS in Computer Information Technology.
The following local students recently graduated from Trine University in Indiana: Tianxin Zhou (MS in Business Analytics), of Henrico; and Srinadh Devarasetty (MS in Information Studies), Xin Guan (MS in Business Analytics) and Khaja Mukram Mohiuddin Mohammed (MS in Business Analytics), of Glen Allen.
The following local students recently were inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines: Denielle Earle-Thompson (Andrews University) and Anthony Locatelli (Virginia Commonwealth University), of Glen Allen; and Burnic Sprouse (Old Dominion University), Emily Mynarski (George Mason University), Ewelisane Eli-sid Asangana Takwi (Virginia Commonwealth University), Lauren Dain (Virginia Commonwealth University) and Roger Butler (Virginia Commonwealth University), of Henrico. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
McCarver David Stokes of Henrico was inducted May 15 into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College in South Carolina. This collegiate honor society recognizes outstanding undergraduate students for excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. To be considered for induction, students must complete 100 hours of coursework and earn a minimum 3.8 grade point average.
Wilson College senior men’s basketball player Jalen Pierce, a Collegiate School graduate, earned first-team all-conference selection from the United East Conference. Pierce was not only one of the best shooters in the conference, but nationally as well, as his average of 57.4% was eighth in Division III among guards and 43rd regardless of position. His 16.2 points per game were tied with for the team lead and sixth in the conference. Pierce was also one of the top free throw shooters nationally, as he led the conference with an 85.3% success rate at the line. His 3.42 assist to turnover ratio was second in the United East. Voting was conducted by head coaches in the United East.
The following local students recently completed a work-based learning experience while attending James Madison University in Virginia: Dylan Easler, Andrew Hedrick, Katherine Ogilvie, Brody Clark, Dhanshree Atre, Anna Lawson and Jordan Tan, of Glen Allen; and Emerson Schneider, Madyson McRay, Carter Kelly, Samuel Hubard, James Muldoon, Landon Brown, Rafael Dietsch, Sofia Pereira Torres Espejo, Sara Townley and Luke Campbell, of Henrico. A work-based learning experience connects academic learning with hands-on work, such as an internship, practicum, clinical or course project with an external partner.
Luke Smith of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2026 president’s list at Union University in Tennessee. To qualify for this honor, full-time students must earn a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.
Spencer Carlsen of Henrico was named to the spring 2026 chancellor’s list at Western Carolina University in North Carolina. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a minimum 3.8 grade point average for the semester.
