Last day for early in-person voting in Henrico is April 18

Henrico voters who want to vote early, in-person for the upcoming special election can do so until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at any of the county’s three early-voting sites.

The Voter Registration and Elections offices at the Henrico Government Center and Eastern Government Center and a satellite location at the Varina Area Library will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the final day for early voting. The sites are available for in-person voting weekdays until 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 17.

Henrico’s 90 precincts will open for in-person voting from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, April 21. Voters can check the Virginia Department of Elections for information about their polling location

Whether voting in-person early or on Election Day, voters will need to present an accepted form of identification.

Voters who are voting by absentee ballot can return their completed ballots to any of five drop boxes throughout the county, bring them to a drop box at any polling site on Election Day, or mail them to the Voter Registration and Elections Office.

Absentee ballots can be returned to a drop box by 7 p.m. Election Day.

Mailed absentee ballots should be postmarked no later than April 21 and received in the Voter Registration and Elections Office by noon Friday, April 24.

Through Saturday, April 11, more than 29,800 Henrico voters had voted early in-person in the special election, while nearly 12,000 had returned an absentee ballot. At the same point in the general election in November, about 31,800 Henrico voters had voted early in-person.

The special election ballot asks voters to consider a proposed amendment to the Virginia Constitution that would allow the General Assembly to adopt temporarily new congressional districts.
