Henrico Police seek car involved in fatal hit-and-run crash with man in motorized wheelchair

Police are asking for the public's help after a 65-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning near the Richmond-Henrico line.

Henrico Police were called to the area of Nine Mile Road and Echo Avenue around 3:45 a.m. for a report of a medical emergency. That is not far from Interstate 64 and the Dabbs House Museum.

The victim was identified as Larry Wilkerson of Henrico.

Officers believe Wilkerson was crossing Echo Avenue on the sidewalk at some point between 12:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a vehicle.

Investigators believe that vehicle may be an early-2000s white Honda with front passenger-side damage and a missing headlight.
