Henrico County Police will hold a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Henrico County Western Government Center, 4301 East Parham Road.

Vaccinations will cost $20 each and must be paid for in cash. The fee includes a rabies tag and certificate of inoculation. Pets from Henrico and other localities are eligible. Cats must be kept in carriers.

Pet owners must register and pay at the cashier's office inside the Administration Building before taking their animals to the veterinarian on the first level of the adjacent parking deck.

Henrico dog owners also may purchase a lifetime county dog license for $10. The license remains valid while the owner lives in Henrico and the dog's rabies vaccinations remain current.

Virginia law requires dogs and cats age four months or older to be vaccinated against rabies. Officers will be available to discuss license and vaccination requirements.
