Richmond Philharmonic to present “Reflection and Reformation”
The Richmond Philharmonic will present its final concert of the 2023-24 season, “Reflection and Reformation,” on Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m. at St. Christopher’s School Arts Center, 711 St. Christopher’s Road.
This concert celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first complete and independent concert by the Richmond Philharmonic that took place May 12, 1974. The program will include works from that concert (including the Couperin “Overture and Allegro,” Ravel’s “Pavane for a Dead Princess,” and the “Reformation” Symphony by Mendelssohn) combined with pieces that the Philharmonic have never performed (Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Trumpets and the “Lithuanian Rhapsody,” Op. 11 by Karlowicz).
A pre-concert talk with music director Peter Wilson and VPM classical host Mike Goldberg will start at 3 p.m. Admission is free. For details, visit richmondphilharmonic.org.
