Early in-person voting for Aug. 4 primary elections starts June 18 in Henrico
Early in-person voting for the Aug. 4 primary election will begin Thursday, June 18 at Henrico’s Voter Registration and Elections offices.
The primary includes a Democratic contest for Virginia’s First Congressional District and a Republican contest for the U.S. Senate. Winning candidates will advance to the general election in November.
In Virginia, voters may vote in one party's primary or the other's, but not both. No party registration is required.
County voters can cast their early ballots at the offices’ Henrico Government Center and Eastern Government Center locations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, through July 31. The offices will open for in-person voting on the two Saturdays prior to the election, July 25 and Aug. 1.
Voters also will be able to cast a ballot on two Sundays, July 19 and 26. This election marks the first time Virginia voters will have the option of voting early in-person on a Sunday.
An additional voting location will open at Varina Area Library from Sunday, July 19 through Saturday, Aug. 1.
Voters also may return completed absentee ballots to five drop boxes throughout the county.
Polling locations will be open for in-person voting on Election Day, Tuesday, Aug. 4.
To participate in the election, voters must register or update an existing registration by Friday, July 24.
