Career and resource workshop for veterans, military and community members planned Sept. 24 in Henrico

American Legion Varina Post 233 will host a Career and Resource Workshop for veterans, active-duty military members, their families and other community members Sept. 24 at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center.

The event, presented in partnership with Virginia Works Veteran Services and Henrico County Recreation and Parks, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the recreation center, 1440 North Laburnum Avenue.

The workshop will include a job fair and networking opportunities, résumé reviews and interview preparation, as well as information about military-to-civilian transition assistance.

Attendees also will be able to learn about American Legion programs, education and training opportunities, and scouting and mentoring resources.

Organizers are promoting the event as an opportunity to connect veterans and military families with employment and community resources while providing career-development assistance.
