Henrico Recreation and Parks will host an outdoor concert featuring the fusion sounds of Prabir Trio on Friday, May 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. Prabir Trio is an Indian-inspired rock band. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy dinner before the show; concessions will be available for purchase. Henrico County Master Gardeners will hold their annual Pollinator Festival and Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 North Laburnum Avenue. There will be more than 5,300 plants for sale, including 300 varieties of perennials, shrubs, trees, herbs, houseplants, some annuals and a wide variety of vegetables, including cucumbers, celery, eggplant, tomatoes (cherry, beefsteak and patio), bush beans, squash and zucchini. Most of the plants have been grown by Master Gardeners and will be sold at discounted prices. Average price is $5. Floral arrangements and gently used garden items also will be available for purchase. The Pollinator Festival will include educational displays, information and demonstrations from environmental organizations and state and local government agencies, displays, a photo booth, a plant clinic led by Master Gardeners, a tool and knife sharpening service, live entertainment, food trucks, and children’s activities coordinated by Junior Master Gardeners. The Virginia Department of Health will host the Bear-y Best Start Resource Fair on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 East Laburnum Avenue. The fair is designed to support new and expectant parents, grandparents, caregivers, and families with young children. Families can connect with trusted health professionals, participate in practical demonstrations such as newborn care and infant CPR, receive health and safety information, hear expert talks on newborn care and parenting, explore local resources, and enjoy giveaways and a free raffle. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Bounce House Bonanza on Sunday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road. Celebrate National Bounce House Day with a wonderland of inflatables, including a towering slide, obstacle course, giant inflatable games, and bounce houses. Food will be available for purchase. The Glenn Miller Orchestra, a big band known for its unique brand of smooth and swinging jazz, will perform Sunday, May 31 at 3 p.m. (sold out) and 7 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Road. Formed in 1938 by arranger Glenn Miller, the original orchestra worked until 1942.
