Actor, comedian and writer Damon Wayans Jr. will perform at the Richmond Funny Bone at Short Pump Town Center on May 8 at 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. and on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Wayans' first film was his father's feature film Blankman in 1994. Since then, he has appeared on ABC's Happy Endings, Fox's New Girl, and as the voice of Wasabi in Disney's animated hit Big Hero 6, among other credits. The Henrico Theatre Company will present the comedy "Getting Sara Married" at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on May 8-9 at 7 p.m. and on May 10 at 3 p.m. The story features Aunt Martha, who is determined to get her reluctant niece Sara married at any cost. Unfortunately, the suitor she selects is someone already engaged to be married. Tickets are $10 for seniors and students and $12 for adults. The show concludes next weekend. Click here for details.
The Richmond VA Comicon will take place Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The expo will feature more than 100 booths, plus a costume contest and dance party. Craft For Art will hold a Turkish lamp making workshop starting at 10 a.m. May 9-10 at the Comfort Suites at Virginia Center Commons, 10601 Telegraph Road in Glen Allen. In this hands-on class, attendees will create their own radiant mosaic lamp to take home. Instructors will walk the class through the full process — from arranging and gluing the glass pieces to refining the design and lighting it up. Cost is $79 to $169 depending on the type of lamp chosen. All materials are included. The class is approximately 2.5 hours long. Click here for details.
