Lakecia Benjamin will perform at the University of Richmond's Modlin Center for the Arts on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Camp Concert Hall. Benjamin is a saxophonist, vocalist, arranger, composer and educator. She combines R&B, several strains of jazz, funk and more — and all of it features the warm and resonant tone she conjures from her saxophone. That tone has earned her comparisons to the famed Johnny Hodges of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and illuminates her ability to bring the past and the future together in the present. A pre-concert artist talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. Click here for details and tickets.
