Virginia Works launches work-based learning catalog for employers

Henrico employers now have access to a new statewide catalog designed to help them select and implement work-based learning programs.

Virginia Works said the Work-Based Learning Catalog covers more than 18 models, including internships, job shadows, pre-apprenticeships, micro-internships, cooperative education, clinical placements, fellowships, on-the-job training, transitional jobs and Registered Apprenticeship.

The catalog groups work-based learning experiences into four progressive stages. It also addresses wages, supervision, documentation, youth employment requirements, insurance and liability, and site readiness.

Virginia Works developed the resource with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and other state education, workforce and rehabilitation agencies.

“Employers are asking for clear, accessible information about how work-based learning fits into their talent strategy,” said Megan Healy, Chief of Talent and Workforce Strategy at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. “This catalog offers exactly that—simple, actionable guidance that helps businesses design high-quality learning opportunities while strengthening partnerships with schools, colleges, and workforce organizations.”

Employers may review and download the catalog through the Virginia Works employer development page.
