Virginia class action proposal dies after Spanberger veto

Lawmakers rejected the governor’s narrower rewrite of the bill, extending a yearslong debate over consumer lawsuits and business liability

Gov. Abigail Spanberger this week vetoed legislation that would have created a formal class action lawsuit process in Virginia state courts, keeping Virginia among only two states without such a system.
