Varina LandLab open house planned Nov. 14
Capital Region Land Conservancy will hold an open house Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Varina LandLab Conservation Area in eastern Henrico County.
In celebration of National Take a Hike Day, the event will include guided hikes, as well as an opportunity to volunteer in a native species planting project, according to the organization.
The conservation area is located at 9200 Deep Bottom Road, adjacent to Deep Bottom Park. The property includes more than four miles of trails and is open daily from dawn to dusk for hiking, birding and environmental education.
Capital Region Land Conservancy owns the 353-acre property, which has been protected by a conservation easement since 2017. A suggested $5 donation at the trailheads supports stewardship of the site.
Information about the property is available on the Varina LandLab project page, and the organization lists current activities on its events page.
