Start 1 Spark to host community open house Nov. 5

Start 1 Spark will host a free community open house Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, 100 Nova Way in Henrico’s Regency area.

The nonprofit helps students at Richmond-area middle schools participate in sports, music, arts and clubs by addressing the cost of equipment and other barriers. The open house, titled ‘Where Sparks Connect,’ is designed for business owners, volunteers and neighbors interested in supporting that work.

The program will include a short presentation about the organization, a panel discussion featuring a principal, teacher and volunteer, a tour of current projects, and information about volunteer opportunities. Light refreshments will be served, and there is no cost to attend.
