Six arrested in connection with fatal 2024 Henrico shooting
Six people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Richmond man in Henrico County more than a year and a half ago, Henrico Police announced Feb. 12.
Three men – 21-year-old Kelvin Charles of Henrico, 31-year-old Melvin Waddy of Henrico and 26-year-old Antoine Lamont Smith of Hopewell – each face aggravated murder and other charges, while three others – 18-year-old Timel Keemon Tillman of Richmond, 18-year-old Jeray Frederick Imani Jr. of Henrico and 25-year-old Shawn Cardell Fleming Jr. of Henrico – each face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery.
The victim, 33-year-old Deondre Jermaine Spinks, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach at the intersection of Wylie Lane and Virginia Center Parkway in the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2024. He later died at a hospital.
On Sept. 24, 2025, the Richmond Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury returned indictments against the six people who now are in custody in connection with Spinks' death.
In addition to their aggravated murder charges, Charles and Smith also each face charges of robbery, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Waddy also faces charges of hit and run and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police did not release additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting but said the indictments stem from the ongoing investigation into Spinks’ death.
Authorities thanked those who assisted with the investigation and the arrests.
