Scott’s Walk ER to host prescription drug take back site Oct. 24
Scott’s Walk ER will serve as a local collection site for unused and expired medications during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The collection will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the freestanding emergency department at 1801 Ellen Road, near West Broad Street in Henrico County. HCA Virginia said the 8th annual "Crush the Crisis" event is being organized by Henrico, Parham and Retreat Doctors’ hospitals. HCA Virginia collected 1,522 pounds of medications during the event last year.
The site will accept prescription tablets, capsules and patches, as well as ointments, lotions, drops, liquids in leak-proof containers, and medications for pets. Needles, syringes and lancets will not be accepted.
Medication may be dropped off anonymously. The event is one of more than 4,400 sites participating in the DEA’s 31st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
