The annual Sandston Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, May 23, following a noon memorial service at Seven Pines Cemetery to honor those buried at the site.

The parade will travel along Williamsburg Road, beginning at its intersection with Beulah Road and continuing until North Confederate Avenue, and members of the community are invited to watch from spots along the route.

The day's activities will begin at 10 a.m., with representatives from Sandston American Legion post 242, Henrico Police, Henrico Fire joining members of the public at Seven Pines Cemetery to place flags on the graves there. At 11 a.m., the group will do the same at Glendale Cemetery before returning to Seven Pines for the memorial service.

At the parade's conclusion, a block party will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sandston Recreation Area on JB Finley Street, featuring games, free food, ice cream and a performance by the band Steele.

Henrico County Recreation and Parks officials will make any weather-related announcements related to the scheduled events on their Facebook page.
