Local residents will have a chance Feb. 4 to learn more about a 426-acre proposed data center complex that would be constructed just across the Henrico County line in Hanover County along Route 33, just north of I-295.

An open house-style meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elmont Elementary School, 12007 Cedar Lane in Ashland, at which officials from developer Tract will display plans for the Mountain Road Technology Park and receive feedback from residents.

Officials from Tract said that they selected the site based upon Hanover County’s future land use plans, proximity to utilities and infrastructure, access to regional transportation systems, power availability, and an overall vision for technology usage in the county’s Route 33 Gateway Small Area Plan.

The proposed site layout shows five building areas, which would comprise just less than one-third of the total site acreage. (Courtesy Tract)

Just less than one-third of the site would include data center buildings, while about 28% would include development areas and 40% would be left as buffer or natural areas.

Tract is a U.S.-based digital infrastructure developer that specializes in master-planned data center parks and has developed projects in Virginia, Nevada, Utah and Arizona.
