Obituary - William Tyson Hooker
William Tyson Hooker, age 79, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2026. Tyson was born on June 16, 1946, to the late Oscar H. Hooker and Elinor K. Hooker. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar Hooker, Jr. and Tommy Hooker.
Tyson grew up in Richmond, Va., and attended Tucker High School. Tyson worked for Henrico Schools for 34 years in the C&M Department. He was an old-school NASCAR and drag-racing fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara Hooker; his sons, Luke Hooker (Gretchen), and their children, Caitlin (JR), Courtney (James), and Hayley (Casey), and Wesley Hooker, and his children, Tyler and MacKenzie (Ayden). He is also survived by his brother, Joe Hooker (Anne).
A celebration of Tyson’s life will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Bliley’s Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23238. Visitation with family and friends: 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service: 7 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on May 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1400 S. Randolph Street, Richmond, VA 23220. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation or the Dementia Society of America
