Rose Lee Winston Robinson was born on November 6, 1940, in Hanover County, Virginia, to Junius Roosevelt Winston and Annie Mae Thompson. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her siblings Clarence Winston, Lorraine Winston, David Winston, Theodore “Lovey” Winston, Mary Francis Williams, and Debora Winston; her late husband, John David Robinson; and her daughter‑in‑law, Patti Brown Winston.

Rose received her formal education at Gandy High School in Hanover County, Virginia. She accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and united with Abner Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Virginia. In her adult years, she was a member of Faith Landmark Ministries, where she served faithfully in the clothing ministry, and she was also an active member of Faith Tabernacle Family Life Center.

Rose was employed by Henrico Doctors Hospital and Lakewood Manor as a nurse. In her leisure, she devoted her life to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. Strong in every sense of the word, she often cared for multiple children in the family while working long shifts. Rose stood firm on the Bible, loved the Lord deeply, and showed her faith through her interactions with others. She was a warrior who demonstrated great fortitude through life’s many challenges. Rose was an incredible cook, passionate in all she did, and she inspired poetry; a close friend wrote the poem “Sassy” in her honor — an attribute everyone knew she embodied.

Rose leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, James Alfred Winston Sr. (Patty), Ferrolin Lee Winston (Lillian), William Manuel Winston (Robin); Alfred Robinson, Shonia LaRose Robinson, Lisa Cleopatra Robinson Brame (her devoted son-in-law Derrick), and April Lavancy Robinson; adored grandchildren, Sunicka Johnson, Shavalyea Wyatt Gilbert (Justin), Shatema Sophia Winston, James Alfred Winston Jr. “Manny” (Candice), Alesha Danielle Henley (Travis), Brendan Winston Brame (Alexis), Brittany Elise Brame, and Jayda Simone Johnson; great‑grandchildren, James Tuppince Jr., Jamal Tuppince (Nashaun), Javontae Tuppince, Jameka Zamora (Julio), Amore Emerald Green, Zion Jeremiah Green, Jeremiah Christian Green, and “LJ” Gilbert; great‑great‑grandchildren, Jaylee Elizabeth Tuppince, Zae Zamora, Lincoln Lee Dion Brame, and Kobe James Winston.

Rose is also survived by her caring siblings, Janet Mae Robinson (Sterling), Carroll Louis Winston (Barbara); Carolyn Louise Winston, Iretha Winston, James Randolph Winston, and Glory Sales; devoted aunt Maude, along with aunt Gertie and aunt Leola. She is further remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her special friend Greg Glascock, and her adopted grandmother Carrie Davis; a host of other relatives and dear friends who loved her dearly.
