Obituary - Paula Brown Swansey

Paula Brown Swansey of Richmond, VA passed away on May 12, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born in Salisbury, MD and resided at the Masonic Home of Virginia at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley W. Brown and Edna Mae Brown; her husband, Edward F. Swansey, Jr; brother, Stanley G. Brown; and sister, Kay Tuccillo.
Paula is survived by her daughters, Deborah Shiflett (Bill), Christine Cantrell, Karen Swansey-Brewer and Pamela Swansey; grandchildren, Christopher Shiflett, Hunter Cantrell (Tiffany), Kyle Shiflett, Kaitlin Cantrell, Raquel Flynn (Alan), Kory Swansey, and Tyler Swansey; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Paula served for 14 years as a grand officer of the Grand Chapter of Virginia Order of the Eastern Star, including Worthy Grand Matron, Grand Secretary and Grand Martha, Past Worthy Matron of Chapters 53, 121 and 4. She also served as Bethel Guardian of Bethel 51 and served as a grand officer of Job’s Daughters. She served and supported all the Masonic organizations. She loved spending time with her family, playing games and was always ready to travel. She loved going to Ocean City, MD which held many childhood memories for her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Masonic Home and Ascend Hospice for their care and dedication to mom.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 with OES service at 5:15 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Masonic Home Chapel - open to all. A reception will follow.
