Obituary - Lola Elaine Grisham Meador

Lola Elaine Grisham Meador, 78 years old, passed away on May 27, 2025, from dementia and associated physical decline. Born in 1946 in Lubbock, Texas, Elaine moved to Albuquerque at age five, where she met Clyde at Hoffmantown Church when she was a young teenager. Elaine and Clyde married in January 1964, and they celebrated their 60th anniversary in January 2024 before Clyde's death later that year.
Elaine helped to support their young family by working as a telephone operator while Clyde finished college after he was called into full-time ministry. Later, she worked at the Baptist Book Store while Clyde attended seminary in Kansas City. Much of her time was also spent caring for their two daughters: Mary Elaine Califf (Mike) and Tamara Elaine Huffman (Mark).
Elaine and Clyde were appointed by the International Mission Board (IMB) to serve in Indonesia in 1974. In 1989, they began to serve in other countries around Asia until 2001, when they moved to Glen Allen, Virginia. Elaine served in a variety of volunteer ministry roles during Clyde's time at IMB headquarters.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Davis Meador, Jr; her father, James Martin Grisham, Sr; her mother, Valarie Wandell Grisham; and her brother, James Martin Grisham, Jr.
Other than her daughters, Elaine is survived by her sister: Robin (Sam) Schattenberg of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren: Michael Califf, III (Cassi) of Baltimore, MD; Jay Califf (Sara) of Avondale, AZ, Evan Mackey (Hilary) of Ashland, VA, and Shanci Mackey of Charleston, SC; four great-grandchildren: Rhydian Califf, Everly Mackey, Ethan Mackey, and Declan Mackey; and three step-grandchildren David Huffman (Callie), Aaron Huffman, and Sarah Huffman.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 5, from 4:00-6:00pm at Bliley's Funeral Home 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA. A celebration of Elaine's life will take place 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 at Staples Mill Road Baptist Church, 10101 Staples Mill Road Glen Allen, VA 23060.
