Obituary - Joyce Pierce Fields
Joyce Pierce Fields, 89, of Sandston, born June 2, 1937 in Covington, VA., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Pete Fields (2026); son, Mark Frederick King (2004); Father, Luther Pierce (1959); mother, Ida Hepler Pierce (1970); sisters, Ruth Pierce Rider and Dorothy Pierce Weese.
She is survived by her son, Matthew King; stepchildren, Cathy Wickline and Scott Fields.
Joyce graduated from Jefferson Hospital Nursing School in Roanoke, Va in 1956 and worked at various hospitals and Doctors offices in Roanoke, Salem, Charlottesville and Richmond as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed flowering and gardening, doing artwork, particularly painting, and travelling. She and Pete were active in their church, Highland Springs, Church of the Nazarene, singing in the choir. She loved antiquing, yard sales and flea markets. She was also a mentor to many local young girls.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, where a funeral service will be held 10 am, Wednesday, September 23. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
