Obituary - Jason Edward Coles
With hearts filled with love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce that our beloved answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal rest on July 11, 2026.
Jason Edward Coles was born on June 4, 1968, in Richmond, Virginia. He was the only son of Janie Coles and the late Robert T. Coles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many other cherished family members.
Jason attended Henrico High School, where he graduated in 1988. He furthered his education by pursuing his passion for the culinary arts and enrolling at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
At an early age, Jason began his spiritual journey at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He was an active member of the Youth Choir and found joy in lifting his voice in praise.
Growing up, Jason enjoyed participating in the Boy Scouts, studying karate, and playing Little League football. He was also a devoted fan of the New York Giants, faithfully supporting his favorite team through the years.
Jason had a true gift for cooking. His barbecue ribs, fried fish, collard greens, chitterlings, and many other homemade dishes were favorites among family and friends. During the Christmas season, his home was always filled with loved ones gathered to enjoy good food, laughter, and fellowship. Jason never met a stranger. He had a warm smile, a generous heart, and natural leadership qualities that drew people to him. His kindness, sense of humor, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jason leaves to cherish his precious memory: three beloved children, Devin Coles, Imari Coles, and Makayla Coles; his loving mother, Janie Coles; devoted godmother, Inez Brown; his dedicated aunt, Irene Connor; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his love and the memories they shared.
Though Jason’s physical presence is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
