Obituary - Ezra Morris Padow
Ezra M. Padow, known for his kindness and sense of humor, passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on February 14, 1952, in Richmond, VA, Ezra dedicated his life to the food industry, working alongside his brother Sidney for over 50 years in their family business, Padow's Hams & Deli. Inspired by their father, who immigrated from Poland with the motto, "People will always be hungry," Ezra poured his heart into continuing that legacy.
Ezra was preceded in death by: Parents George Padow & Yetta Padow, and Grandson Skyler Legano.
Ezra was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife Mary; children Brian and Emily (Shane) Legano; grandchildren Ezra, Ashlyn, Kealey and Zoe; sister Toby Moyers (Leslie); brother, Sydney (Lois) Padow; brother-in-law Erle J. Zoll; Nephew Dean Hoffman. They were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He enjoyed sharing laughs and creating memories with his loved ones, always making time to bring joy to their lives.
In addition to his work in the deli, Ezra served for over 40 years as President Emeritus of the Beth El Cemetery Company, a role that allowed him to contribute meaningfully to his community. Renovating The Chapel at Forest Lawn and developing Chesed Memorial Park were projects particularly close to his heart, reflecting his commitment to honoring memories and creating lasting legacies.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 4pm Monday May 18 at Richmond Beth El Cemetery Chapel 4000 Pilots Lane in Henrico, VA. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to those he held dear. In Lieu of flowers contributions be made to Temple Beth El or Skyler Scholars.
