Obituary - Eric Maughan Duncan
Eric Maughan Duncan passed on August 26, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 24, 1954, in Evanston, Illinois. Eric lived in Richmond, Virginia for 38 years. Eric is predeceased by his parents Homer and Wynette "Penny" Duncan. Eric lived a life of quiet devotion, selfless service, and profound love.
Left to cherish his memory is his eternal sweetheart of almost 50 years, Vickey Bailey Duncan. They built a life rooted in faith and devotion, raising an amazing family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his children: Amanda (Matt) Lauritzen, Adam (Leslie) Duncan, Katie (Curtis) Stowers, Kyle (Kristen) Duncan, Curtis (Mallory) Duncan, Spencer (Krista) Duncan, Bradley (Taylor) Duncan, Erica (Ian) Hunt, Jacob (Jessica) Duncan, 37 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with 2 great grandchildren on the way. Eric is also survived by his brother, Jeff Duncan as well as his sister Jennifer Duncan.
Nothing was more important to Eric than his family, and his membership and service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a dedicated servant for 34 years in the Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia Temples. Eric loved being a grandpa more than almost anything and was always seen holding a grandchild in his arms at family gatherings. Above all else, his faith held the promise of eternal reunions.
A viewing will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. in Richmond, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10913 Staples Mill Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23060, at noon. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
