Obituary - Edward Crist Walters

Edward Crist Walters, 88, of Henrico, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026. He was born to the late Charles and Mary Walters in Cricleville, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Walters.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Jeanne Walters; daughter, Sheryl Kay Hellmuth (George); son, Scott David Walters (Andrea); sister, Carolyn Seitz (Merlyn); brother, Dick Walters (Michelle); grandchildren, Lauren Garcia-Hellmuth (Canyon), Marin Walters, Jessica Hellmuth, and Kayla Walters; great-grandchildren, Tony and Sallie.

Edward was a graduate of Capital University.  He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy, retiring as Commander in Naval Intelligence after many years. He had a passion for history and enjoyed it so much he taught classes in it. He took a liking to birding so much that he incorporated it the family vacations. He was meticulous in documenting events by recording and taking photos. Most of all, Edward loved his family and took pride in being an instrumental part of his children and grandchildren’s education.

A funeral service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
